History of B.V.B.V.M, Trichur


Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Trichur Kendra started in the year 1979, in a small rented room with only 12 students in standard 1 and two teachers as staff, progressed steadily ever since, and has reached the present level, after passing through several ups and downs owing to financial stringency's during the past twenty years of its existence. On 01.06.1982 the kindergarten Section was started. The rest of the Vidya Mandir had then been functioned in a rental building on the Ponnuveetil Lane, near Patturaikkal, Trichur. Later in order to improve the standard of education, the syllabus approved by the Central Board of Secondary Education was adopted.

 The Bhavan purchased 5 acres of land at Poochatty [Nadathara] in December 1983.

Sringeri swamigal's visit to our school. The foundation stone for the new building was made by His Highness Sri Sannidhanam, Sri Bharathi Theertha Swamigal, and the site was blessed by Maha Sannidhanam, Sri Sankaracharya Abhinava Vidya Theertha Swamigal.
A team of Principals of Central Schools in Cochin inspected the Vidya Mandir on 19.08.1985 and on 07.10.1985 the Vidya Mandir was approved by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
 
Former President of INDIA inaugurating our school formally. The Vidya Mandir was shifted to Poochatty on 10.02.1986. It's formal inauguration was done by the then Honourable President of India, Late.Giani Zail Singh on 29.08.1986. 

In 1988 academic year, in order to increase the efficiency of the transfer of information by the teachers and to kindle the spirit of research in the children , laboratories were set up for Chemistry, Physics and Biological science. A full fledged & well equipped library started functioning.
